Servings Prep Time
cup 6mins.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat water to point before boiling.
  2. Place Mate leaves in an unbleached tea filter. Add enough hot water that the water level reaches about 3/4 of the way up the cup, and steep leaves for 6 minutes. This will be an extremely strong brew, but remember there are other ingredients in the blend. Remove tea filter.
  3. While Mate is steeping, steam your milk/milk substitute. If you do not have a steamer, heat milk on stove and whisk. This will taste slightly different, but will have a similar effect...
  4. Add stevia to the milk/milk alternative, and stir well.
  5. Add steamed milk to the infused mate, and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

For a bit of a minty variation (that really is quite lovely), you can reduce the "Café Mate" blend to 1.5 tbsp., and add 1.5 tbsp of "Minty Mocha" mate blend from Kolya's Apothecary.

Having trained in herbal and cultural medicine, I found the sense of “home” in health food stores. I joined Optimum Health Vitamins in 1997, which later became our family-owned business. I loved working with natural medicines, but wanted to “get my hands dirty” in the herbs and clays and butters. I wanted to flood my senses with the plant world, and wanted to share everything I found with our customers and clients. This is why I founded Kolya Naturals.
