5 Reasons to Cleanse with Friends

They don’t call it “Spring Cleaning” for nothing! It has become common knowledge that doing a cleanse during the transition from winter to spring is more efficient and offers more results than other times because our bodies are naturally wired to store excess metabolites during the winter and flush them out during the spring. We’ve been in somewhat of a “hibernation mode” over the colder months- eating richer foods, staying indoors, and not exercising as frequently. Just like the change of seasons, it’s time to change your routine- what better way to kick start the process than with a cleanse? Better yet, a cleanse with friends! Let’s face it- cleansing can be a challenge for many individuals: it takes a considerable amount of preparation, willpower, and perseverance to complete a cleanse. Here are some benefits to cleansing with a friend or two (or more!) to help motivate you.

Prep food with a friend1. You Meal Prep Together
There are many different cleanses on the market, and some are more hard-core than the next. But for the most part, they have two things in common-

  • You’ll need to make some diet adjustments
  • You’ll need to plan ahead

Planning and prepping meals for the week ahead is one of the best ways to avoid slipping up during a cleanse- with every meal and snack prepared, there are no excuses for a quick sugary fix. We know how time-consuming meal prep can be, so this is just one reason why partnering up with someone can make cleansing that much easier. You can split the workload – and get double the work done – in half the time!

Exercise with a friend

2. A Built-In Work Out Buddy
Although it may not be absolutely mandatory to exercise during a cleanse, it definitely won’t hurt! In fact, it will accelerate your body’s detoxification process and help with weight loss. Getting out for a run or heading to the gym on your own is hard enough, but when you have a friend or two joining you, it makes it that much more exciting! Instead of viewing it as something that you “have to do”, think of it as a time to motivate each other and catch up.

3. You Hold Each Other Accountable
Sometimes all you need is an anchor – it’s as simple as that. Having someone to hold you accountable can make you more successful during your detox. You’ll definitely think twice about ordering that milkshake if you have to report back to your cleansing partner about your indulgence.

4. You Compare ExperiencesTalk with a Friend
Everyone is biologically unique, and it’s no different with cleanses- talking to someone who is also cleansing is a huge advantage. This allows you to compare what is happening in your body, and the changes you are experiencing. Although you won’t feel the EXACT same, there will be some areas of overlap to discuss. Did they have the same symptoms? Cravings? Do they have any tips to pass on? How do they make it through the day…

5. You Vent!
If you’ve done a cleanse before, you know that sometimes all you want is to have a pity party. Yes, you could vent to almost anyone, even the cashier at the grocery store, but let’s be honest- they don’t really care. Venting to someone who is also cleansing will be that much more helpful because they actually get you! All you have to do now is choose your cleansing buddy. Good luck!
