When the cold weather sets in, there’s nothing like the warm glow from a floral candle to create a cozy atmosphere. With non-toxic wax and topped with delicate dried flowers, the ingredients are as beautiful on the inside as they look on the outside.

Before each use, empty the flowers into the candle lid to add to the ambiance, and then pour them back into the candle after it has cooled to prolong its sent until your next use.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a pot or double boiler, measure out the soy wax and melt over low to medium heat.
  2. In the meantime, get your jar ready by securing the bottom metal part of the wick with mold sealer, to the center of the bottom of the jar.
  3. Then, secure the wick between the wick holder (or two sticks), and set aside.
  4. Once wax is completely melted, remove from heat and add essential oils and colorants (if you wish). Carefully pour the liquid wax around the sticks into the jar, ensuring the wick holders keep the wick in place.
  5. Ensure the wick is centered in the jar, and set aside to cool.
  6. Once set, add the dried flowers on top of the candle until the jar is full. Secure with the Weck Jar lid, and label.
  7. When ready to use, pour the petals onto the lid, and set next to the candle to create an aesthetically pleasing experience. Herbs and flowers MUST be removed before lighting the candle, as dried herbs and flowers are flammable.

Recipe Notes

* Essential Oils: because essential oils are natural fragrances, they tend to dissipate quite quickly. If you are looking to add essential oils, we recommend the following cost-effective oils: Lavender, Peppermint or Orange.

** Mold sealer, wick holder and a wide variety of colorants are available at our 109 St. botanical apothecary.
